Volunteer

Could you spare some time to support vulnerable people in South Derbyshire who are leaving hospital (or living at home but at risk of admission) and who have limited support from family or friends?

The Derbyshire Home from Hospital Service supports these vulnerable people by providing them with with short term practical help, for up to six weeks.

The Derbyshire Home from Hospital Volunteer role is very flexible, and volunteers will be able to choose what tasks they do depending on their availability, as tasks may be required at short notice.

Tasks could include:

  • simple shopping trips

  • collecting medication prescriptions

  • supporting them to pay bills and make appointments

  • arranging for key-safes or pendant alarms to be fitted

  • helping to ensure that the home environment is as safe and comfortable as possible

  • helping them find and access community activities

  • signposting them to other statutory, voluntary sector and community organisations as appropriate.

Volunteers must be aged 18+ for this role.
